I was diagnosed before turning 30. I have my entire life ahead of me and now I need to learn live without letting this disease dictate my life. It doesn’t seem like something I will ever get used to as I am still young but things that used to be so routine can now feel like an impossible task when my symptoms are active. Things like preparing a meal or getting dressed, but also the social interactions. I already consider myself an introvert but now at times I feel like I am getting scared to show my symptoms. I think that we might have it harder having this disease at 30 rather than 65 or older. I think there is more judgment being made when seeing a young person shake or moving slow. I worry people think I’m having withdrawals and I think people are going to be much less reluctant to point out my tremors as compared to seeing someone who is older displaying the same behavior.

I hope people will become more aware that PD can effect young people too.
